Scaffolding

In the Kindermusik classroom, we gently guide each child's learning and fun by responding to what the child is doing and is able to do. This is a child-centered approach to learning. For example, instead of telling a child what to do the moment the take the bells in their hands, we wait and see what the child will do. Then we might build on that by challenging the child to do something else or something a little harder. If they don't want to do what we suggest, no problem: we back off and start the process again. If they choose to respond to our suggestion, we continue the process as the child is open. We may even just sit back and allow the child to explore however they wish. And we all have a grand time!
